Founded in 1878 and independent since 1919, UdeM serves over 67,000 students, including a significant international population, across its main campus and affiliated schools—Polytechnique Montréal (engineering) and HEC Montréal (business). The campus features modernist architecture, green spaces, research centers, and cultural venues. UdeM offers more than 650 undergraduate and graduate programs across 13 faculties, including Medicine, Law, Arts and Sciences, Education, and Veterinary Medicine, the only French-language veterinary school in North America.
Research is a cornerstone at UdeM, with over $600 million in annual funding and globally recognized institutes like Mila (Artificial Intelligence) and IRIC (Immunology and Cancer). Students benefit from co-op programs, internships, and access to major teaching hospitals. Campus life includes over 300 student organizations, athletics through the Carabins, and facilities like the CEPSUM sports complex and residences. UdeM’s location in Montreal offers a rich bilingual cultural environment, festivals, and easy transportation access, blending academic excellence with a dynamic urban experience.
