Scholarship Description
Financed by the U.S. Department of State, the Fulbright Foreign Student Program awards approximately 4,000 grants annually to foreign nationals seeking advanced academic degrees at accredited U.S. universities. The scholarship covers up to two years for Master's programs (and longer for Ph.D. tracks depending on post requirements), fully funding tuition fees, books, round-trip international travel, pre-academic orientation, and a monthly living stipend. Eligibility criteria vary by home country, but applicants generally must hold at least a recognized bachelor's degree, demonstrate strong academic achievement, showcase leadership potential, and meet language proficiency standards. Most academic disciplines are eligible—including STEM, business, humanities, and social sciences—while clinical medical degree programs involving direct patient contact are strictly excluded. All grantees are placed on a J-1 Exchange Visitor visa, which carries a mandatory two-year home-country physical presence requirement following completion of their studies in the United States.
